Reflections

I got carded at the firm's christmas party when I was trying to get a vodka tonic.  I was thinking, "cmon, lady, I'm turning 30 this month."  At least my boss and colleagues got a kick out of this.  I could see them several feet away busting out laughing.

biz trip to korea

I went on a 10 day business trip to Korea.  I learned a lot about client relationship, fine Korean dining ($80 per entree) that is almost impossible to get in the US, the heavy drinking culture that is prevalent in the rural parts of Korea.  It looks like I'll be making frequent trips to Korea to do work in person with my clients in the future.

A few things I realized again:  The social life in Korea is good.  Unlike Americans who spend a lot of time by themselves, people in Korea are social butterflies - always hanging out with people.  I also realized that Korea has a lot of fun intelligent attractive women.  Sometimes I wonder why the hell I'm still in the US.

I got to see my parents and my nephew (my sister's son).

and I stayed at Intercontinental Hotel near Coex (5minutes away from my parents' place).  for $300 per night and extra $25 for internet, I don't get much besides a plasma tv.

200 Pounds Beauty (Standard Edition) DVD

Koreans make very good movies.  200 pounds beauty was a very good movie.  much better than that lame Hollywood movies.  Some Hollywood companies have started buying licenses for Korean movies for the remake.  I guess Hollywood ran out of ideas for good movies.

Koreans are also crazy.  see below

Its sequel is coming out, and that will very dangerous to me, to the point that it will hamper my wife hunting efforts.

Pearson needs to be the next person to get disbarred after Nifong.

Bar studying sucks.  But, let everything I do, do it for the glory of God.

It's been four weeks since I moved to northern virginia, and I've been loving every minute of it.  I was telling a friend of mine that I finally felt belonged to the community.  The change was from Delaware county (80% white, 3% asian) to Fairfax County (73% white, 13% asian).  I am definitely not treated like an outside here.

The law firm life is quite busy and the work is intense, but I've been liking it a lot for the most of it.  9am-8pm work hours and no working on weekends are not too bad.  I'm fortunate to have this job where I can enjoy learning something new every day and use creativity in making arguments.  I will be taking the next 2 months off work to study for the Virginia bar exam.

As for the bar exam, it seems to scare everyone already but me.  Maybe I need to get scared to be motivated to study harder.

I've been attending Open Door Presbyterian Church.  Open Door is Cityline Church's pastor Steve's home church and is also a church for some former Cityliners (Roy, Gilbert and Ann).  I'm not a big fan of Korean churches because they often become no more than a social venue and lack passion.  But, my parents asked me to find a good Korean church because they want to be able to attend the same church with me when they come visit for an extended period of time.  Open Door's been good so far, and it seems that the church seems on the more progressive side for a Korean church.  I met so many lawyers at this church (a friend of mine told me that Open Door has a lot of lawyers).  I tell them that I used to go to a church with lots of doctors (cityline).
